Kaskaskia Cahokia Trail Gears Up For Road Rally



The Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail Coalition is pleased to announce a special event coming this September. The Road Rally, taking place on Saturday, Septeember 25th, is a fun family event, giving participants the opportunity to travel the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail, with stops at 12 historic sites along the way. 

The 60-mile long auto tour route connects you with so many opportunities to learn about the area's history along scenic backroads and peaceful praririe land. The fall season is especially a magnificent time of year to explore the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail. Colorful woodland foliage surrounds the tral along the majestic bluffs and rolling agricultural and forested landscapes. 

Check-in time will be from 9am to 11am at Holy Family Church in Cahokia Heights, IL. From there, you will travel and explore Illinois' First Road, visiting up to 12 historic sites along the way. Each registered vehicle will be given a goody bag and a stamp card with the 12 sites listed. Get your card stamped and turned in for a chance to win some great prizes at the end!

The end check point will be at the Buena Vista Bank in Historic Prairie du Rocher from 4-6pm. The fun doesn't stop there - stick around for food specials, live music, kids games, vendor booths and more at the event after party, hosted by the Prairie du Rocher Chamber of Commerce. Participants can register ahead of time, or the morning of the Road Roally. Pre-registrations are $25 per vehicle, and doy-of registrations are $30 per vehicle. Those who are registered early before September 15th, will be guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt. 

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail Coalition, a 501(c)3 whose mission is to promote, preserve, protect, and develop the historic, architectural, cultural, and natural heritage of the Kaskaskia-Cahokia Trail through educational, charitable, historical, and scientific purposes and to promote the expansion of the tourism industry in Southwestern Illinois.
